SPACE. COMFORT. CLARITY.

High-field Open MRI

A more open design, with detailed imaging at its heart.

High-field Open MRI provides a more open imaging environment for patients who feel claustrophobic or prefer additional space. MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of organs, soft tissues, joints, and the spine, without ionizing radiation.

High-field Open MRI and Closed 1.5T MRI

An open design offers more space and increased comfort. Closed 1.5T MRI is a traditional tunnel-style option for detailed, high-resolution imaging. Your provider and imaging team will recommend the appropriate system for your study.

02

Before your exam

  • Remove metal items such as jewelry, watches, hairpins, and belts.
  • Inform staff of implants, previous surgeries, and medical devices.
  • Follow the specific preparation instructions provided by your center.
03

During your exam

  • You will lie on a padded table; remaining still helps image accuracy.
  • You will hear loud, repetitive tapping sounds.
  • A technologist communicates with you throughout the exam.
  • Some exams use contrast to enhance the images.
  • Most exams take 30–60 minutes, depending on the area being studied.
04

Receiving your results

A board-certified radiologist reviews your images and prepares a report for the physician who ordered your MRI. Your physician will discuss the findings with you.
